Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential (GCAPP)
The Pipeline Project
Project Summary
The Pipeline Project is an innovative sexuality education training program to build the skills and confidence of pre-service Health/PE teachers during the first years of their teaching career. GCAPP has partnered with Kennesaw State University, the largest teacher preparation program in Georgia, to alter the paradigm of sexuality education training by creating a rigorous teacher training program using the National Teacher Preparation Standards for Sex Education (NTPS). Pre-service teachers entering the pipeline will receive specialized training while earning their degree and will receive individualized coaching and access to a network of veteran sex education teachers once they have a classroom of their own. The Pipeline Project will also provide training on strategies and tools for advocating or initiating local school-based sexual health programs and policies.
