Wahine Talk
Project Summary
Wahine Talk is an innovative teen pregnancy prevention program designed for homeless and at-risk youth. This program emphasizes social connectedness and creates opportunities for youth to build healthy support networks with peers, social service staff, and medical providers. Wahine Talk uses texting and social media and provides needed resources to keep youth engaged, addresses the immediate needs of the whole person (including food, showers, clothing, transportation, medical care, etc.), facilitates educational opportunities, and provides access to highly effective methods to prevent pregnancy through an onsite site medical clinic.
