Project Summary
The Waikiki Health team plans to create “Wahine Talk”, a technology-based program that will provide relevant sexual health information to homeless and runaway youth. Wahine Talk will move beyond typical group sessions and adult educators to emphasize texting and social networks to reflect youth preferences and realities of today’s world. The program will utilize information and incentives relevant to the target population, while easing their access to high-efficacy medical treatments and services to reduce pregnancy by increasing uptake of long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC).
The Wahine Talk program will serve a high-risk population of homeless, runaway, street-identified youth to foster healthy relationships, build life skills, and provide access to highly effect LARC treatment through a confidential on-site clinic.
